WHAT DID IT MEAN TO INHERIT?
Inheritance – to take possession. Inheritance is first used in the Old Testament to describe how land ownership was transferred. You could purchase, seize or inherit land. Inheritance was the only method that didn’t require effort. As you study Jacob, Joseph, Moses and Joshua, look at the concept of inheritance in each story. In the New Testament, inheritance is used to describe our birthright when we are born again. What is your inheritance as a child of God? Watch the blog each week as we take a look at models of inheritance in the Old Testament and what it means for each of us.

WHAT IS A PROPHET?

BlueLetterBible.com gives a very insightful definition of a prophet.
Here is a small part:

The great task assigned to the prophets whom God raised up among the people was "to correct moral and religious abuses, to proclaim the great moral and religious truths which are connected with the character of God, and which lie at the foundation of his government."

Jesus fulfilled both the role of prophet and teacher:

He was and is the great Prophet of the Church. There was also in the Church a distinct order of prophets who made new revelations from God. They differed from the "teacher," whose office it was to impart truths already revealed.

The first mention of a prophet is Abraham in Genesis 20:7 -
Now return the man's wife, for he is a prophet, and he will pray for you and you will live.
